3 Gun Shotgun
Any kind of shotgun will work for 3 Gun competitions however typically the best option is a high capacity semi-automatic shotgun. Many 3 Gun competitors can often perform very well with a pump shotgun because of their ability to cock rapidly between shots, however many people are not very fast at this aspect of shotgun shooting and therefore will benefit greatly from using a semi-automatic shotgun when shooting in 3 Gun.
If you want to be able to complete a 3 Gun course as quickly as possible it is very important to be able to fit a high number of shells in your shotgun. You can either buy a shotgun that already holds a high capacity OR you can modify an existing shotgun to increase its capacity. Most common shotguns come with a 3 shell capacity and this capacity can typically easily be increased to 8-10 shells by some fairly simple modifications.
Cost for a 3 Gun Shotgun
This is typically the cheapest gun out of the 3 guns. A basic pump shotgun can be purchased for $200-$300 and will work just fine but some guys will spend up to $3000 getting the top of the line shotgun. Often you can get a good shotgun for around $500 and modify it slightly and end up with a very high performing shotgun that will give the high dollar ones a run for their money when it comes to performance and reliability.
